Ushers

Ushers are often the first people visitors meet. They are responsible for greeting folks as they arrive for service, handing out the service bulletin, providing information about the Church and it’s services, seating people, collecting the alms, directing “traffic flow” during communion, and after services picking up items left in the church and redistributing the Bible, Book of Common Prayer, and Hymnal. All baptized members of the church are eligible. Couples are particularly encouraged to participate, as are families.

The Usher and Greeter Manual is available here.

Parish Choir

172

The Parish Choir performs weekly at the Sunday morning 10:30 a.m. Rite II service. They rehearse each Thursday evening at 7:00 P.M. and Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. More information about the choir and our music program may be found here.

Altar Guild

Altar-Guild-large

The Altar Guild provides the care and maintenance of the linens and vestments used in the worship services. This group oversees all services in the church, including weddings and funerals, as well as the weekly services. Altar Guild meets in the Conference Room the first Thursday of each month at 10:30 a.m.

Eucharistic Ministers

These lay ministers have been trained by the rector and licensed by the bishop to assist in the services by reading lessons, leading prayers and administering the chalice during communion. This ministry is open to any confirmed member.

Pastoral Care Team and Eucharistic Visitors

257

Eucharistic Visitors take communion to the homes of our parishioners who are unable to attend church. This ministry, is open to any confirmed member, is a vital one in which we share the love of Christ to those who are ill or shut-in.

Lectors

165

These lay ministers are responsible for reading the scripture lessons during the services. Any baptized member is eligible. Youth are particularly encouraged to participate.

Acolytes

The word “acolyte” comes from the Greek word “acolytos,” meaning “companion, attendant, or helper.” Acolytes assist the clergy at the altar with a variety of duties, including processing in and out of the service carrying torches, cross, and flag; lighting the altar candles; handing the elements to clergy as they prepare for communion; and any other ways they can help make the altar experience a positive one. This ministry is for both our youth (ages 8 and up) and adults.

Oblation Bearers

207

These people bring the gifts of bread, wine and water to the altar during Eucharistic celebrations. Anyone may participate in this ministry.

If you are interested in participating in any liturgical ministry, please contact the church office at 239.936.1000 or fill out our contact form.
